The Do’s & Don’ts for Customers
Do’s
You are new to trading therefore; familiarize yourself with rules, regulations, by laws and circulars issued by Stock Exchanges/ SEBI
Carry out due diligence on the Stock Broker before registering as a client with them
Clear all your doubts by raising queries with the Relationship Manager prior to opening an account
Don’ts
Don’t start trading until you have read and understood the Risk Disclosure Document (RDD) and Member-Client Agreement
Do’s
Go through the Member- Client Agreement and all the terms and conditions before signing the account opening form with your Stock Broker
Enter accurate, complete and factually correct details in the form since this will form the basis of your relationship with us
Provide accurate Email ID, DP ID, Bank account number and mobile number
Read and understand every point in the account opening form before signing
Understand the importance of maintaining a running account before signing the authorization for the same. (Maintaining a running account with us is not compulsory)
Don’ts
Don’t leave any spaces blank while filling the form.
Don’t overwrite, cancel, misspell the details
Do’s
Assess the risk-return profile of the investment as well as the liquidity and safety aspects before making and/or acting upon your investment decision
Make investments based on sound reasoning, after taking into account all publicly available information. You may access the websites of Companies and Regulators for this information
Make all payment in the form of cheque in the name of your Stock Broker only
Don’ts
Don’t trade in any product without knowing and/or understanding the associated risks and rewards
Don’t get influenced by information which is not originating from an appropriate source
Don’t get influenced into buying fundamentally unsound companies (penny stocks) based on sudden spurts in trading volumes or prices or non-authentic favourable looking articles/stories
Don’t match / synchronize trades with any other person for any thinly traded shares
Don’t indulge in any trading activity which results in disturbance of market equilibrium in any manner including manipulation of price of any scrips
Don’t get carried away by luring advertisements, if any
Don’t make cash payment or issue a cheque in the name of any employee of NWIL or any other person in respect of the transactions
Don’t issue blank / bearer cheque to anyone
Do’s
Payment of funds to be made only from the Bank Account mapped with the Trading Account
In case of payment through Pay Order, Demand Draft, Banker’s cheque, NEFT or RTGS; provide following proof of payment
Certificate from the issuing bank on its letterhead or on a plain paper with the seal of the issuing bank
Certified copy of the requisition slip (portion which is retained by the bank) to issue the instrument
Certified copy of the passbook/bank statement for the account debited to issue the instrument
Authentication of the bank account-number debited and name of the account holder by the issuing bank on the reverse of the instrument
Track your ledger regularly to check the credit for payment of funds
Do’s
Give clear and unambiguous instructions to the dealer while placing orders over the phone
All order instructions should be given verbally over recorded phone lines or in writing
You will be solely responsible for all transactions effected from internet trading. Therefore, change your password every fortnight
Be aware of the risk associated with the asset classes you are trading in the market and margin calls on them. In case of inadequate margin or non-payment of margin in your account, your positions will be squared off by the Risk Management team
Maintain adequate margins at all points of time. In case of margin shortfall or delay in payments, your outstanding position will be squared up.
Don’ts
In any circumstance, do not reveal your login credentials to any other person, not even an Nuvama representative
Do’s
For every trade executed, go through the duly signed contract note from your Stock Broker and verify information like - details of the trade, trade time and number, transaction price, brokerage, your unique client-Id and Stock Broker’s name
Check your email accounts (as provided by you in ‘KYC’ form) on a daily basis. All your account related information including trade confirmation & obligations will be emailed to you
As a good practice, review and scrutinize your periodic statement regularly
Pay the margins within the prescribed time. Collect/pay, your mark to market margins, on your positions, on a daily basis from/to your Stock Broker
Deliver the shares in case of sale or pay the money in case of purchase before the pay-in day
Make payments; enhance margin through cheques made out in favor of your Stock Broker only

Don’t accept unsigned contract note
Do’s
Check the transaction & holding statement received from the DP thoroughly
Handle Delivery Instruction Slips book issued to you, very carefully
Insist that the DIS numbers are pre-printed & your account number is pre-stamped
While sending securities for Demat, record the distinctive numbers of the securities sent
Always mention the details like ISIN, number of securities accurately. If in doubt, contact DP or your Stock Broker
Authorize corrections, over-writing or cancellations on the instruction slips by signing against the same
Ensure that all joint holders of the Demat account sign the slip
If there is space for multiple instructions and it is not used fully, please strike out the blank space for furnishing securities details
Please understand the benefits of executing Power of Attorney before signing the same
In case you are not transacting frequently make use of the freezing facilities provided for your Demat account
Don’ts
Don’t issue Demat delivery instruction slip from any other family members/friends accounts. Issue the DIS only from your own Demat account
Don’t sign blank Delivery instructions slip(s) while meeting security payin obligation
Don’t over-write, cancel, misspell or change the name and quantity of securities
Don’t leave your blank DIS slip/DIS book unattended at a Stock Broker branch or hand over to any Relationship or Service manager

Beware of fraud
Don’t provide personal information such as Customer IDs, Passwords, and One Time Passwords (OTP) to anybody over the phone, the internet or via email
Don’t open or click on attachments included in emails from organizations or people you don’t know
How to detect a fake email or website
A message stating that your account may have been compromised, and asking for personal information
An email promising prize money for completing a survey or answering questions that compel you to reveal personal information
An email directing you to a fake website designed to look like the real thing
How fraudsters may try to trick you
Phishing: These are fake emails that appear to be sent by a credible source in order to compel you to reveal personal information, which can then be used to commit fraud
Vishing: These are phone calls by people pretending to work for Nuvama or another legitimate business, asking you to reveal personal information
Trojan / Virus: These are programs inadvertently installed on your computer to steal your sensitive information, spy on you, or cause a security breachSMiShing: These are SMS text messages that urge you to call a number to s a seemingly potential fraud
Ransomware: This refer to malware that infects your computer, blocks access to your files, and demands money from you in order to access your files once again
Spyware: This is a type of software that secretly monitors activity on your computer and reports back to the fraudster, who then uses the information to access your personal accounts
How you can secure your passwords
Here’s how you can keep your passwords from falling into the wrong hands:
Ignore requests from organizations or individuals requesting you to verify your passwords or PINs, as no reputable financial organization does that
Memorise your passwords instead of writing them down, and don’t share them with anybody
Remember to change your passwords every 90 days or less
Use a combination of letters, numbers and special characters, with a mix of upper and lower case letters to make your passwords more secure
Avoid using family names, names of pets, and important dates
Avoid using common names or words in foreign languages to create your passwords

Challenge Security: You will be prompted to enter your answer for challenge question to authenticate your transaction post you login into the application.
Email Notification: We send SMS and Email alerts which help you review if transaction made is accurate or fraudulent
Website Certificate: The SSL Certificate provides clear visual indicators of a green address bar. The green address bar /padlock verifies that the website belongs to the organization it claims to be from. As soon as the website URL address bar becomes green, customers can be assured it is the genuine website. Do not log in to the website whose Pad lock or address bard turns red or appears broken

Forward suspicious emails asking for sensitive information to antiphising@nuvama.com
Write to us at antiphising@nuvama.com, if you notice a duplicate Nuvama website of webpage
Call us on 1800-102-3335 right away, if you’ve provided sensitive account information to an unauthorised person, or to report a fraud
Install and update good-quality antivirus software
Use only devices (like USBs, external hard drives, and smartphones) that you completely trust
Exercise caution when using the internet at public places such as internet cafes and airport lounges
Type the entire Nuvama address (www.nuvamawealth.com) into your browser to avoid being misdirected to a bogus site when you use the search option
Don’ts

Enable the ‘Auto Run’ feature in Windows systems
Use an unlicensed operating system or one that hasn’t been updated regularly

Disclose personal or business information via a website link attached to an email
Trust a site appearing to belong to Nuvama if it doesn’t start with the ‘https’ prefix and doesn’t have a padlock symbol
